Scholarly Commentary

Introduction

Having received copies of the Second Trial Book proofs on 26 November, DGR sent this set to Swinburne that day. Thus began a remarkable intercourse between the two poets as Swinburne exchanged a series of letters with DGR and the two discussed in detail the process of revision DGR was undertaking. The extra set of pages at the end of this document (pages 201-206) are a revise of “ Jenny” sent to Swinburne and received by him on 7 December.
