Introduction
This is an uncorrected partial copy of the first revise of Signature A (dated 23 May 1881 and marked 2 by the printer). The revise has several “X” marks by the printer indicating that the type needs cleaning.

Besides this copy of the first revise, the Delaware Art Museum library has its duplicate as well as an unmarked copy of the first author's proof (undated). The British Library proofs have a corrected copy of the first author's proof for this signature (dated 19 May and marked 1).
