Introduction
This is a unique set of proofs—a state of the printing that disappeared when DGR revised the final signatures of his 1881 Ballads and Sonnets. These two poems moved back into Signature Y when DGR removed two sonnets from the book during his revision of the first author's proofs for Signature Y. The removed sonnets were “On a Handful of French Money” and “ The Staircase of Notre Dame, Paris”.
