Editorial Description: WMR's note
The Question Unanswered
  • When my hushed heart weighs heavily—
  • My brain lies fixed and cold,
  • When the changes are all ended which
  • The Earth had on me rolled,
  • Will utter torpor bind me
  • And total darkness blind me,
  • Or will illusions still sweep past
  • As they were wont of old.
  • Shall I feel if some friend lift my hand
  • 10And wet it with a tear,
  • As thoughts press on—how that same hand
  • [blank] his with friendly cheer
  • Shall i feel them pass by death
  • With mute step and timid breath;
  • Or, be merely spotted by the shades
