Introduction
This is apparently the only holograph copy of the epigram, although DGR
drafted a sketch of three lines in his letter to Ellis of the previous day
(see Fredeman, Correspondenceno. 70. 125).
There is a poor devil named Dallas, Who tends, as I'm told, to the gallows, Yet if not so well hung, He might never have swung,For it's mostly along of his phallus.
