Scholarly Commentary

The limerick satirizes Valentine (“Val”) Cameron Prinsep, nephew of Julia Margaret Cameron. He fell in with DGR and the PRB in the mid-50s and was enlisted by DGR for the Oxford Murals project. DGR wrote another limerick on Prinsep that found its way into Alice Ramsden's commonplace book.

A general commentary on DGR's limericks and their context is available.
