Scott devoted some amusing pages in his <bibl> <xref doc="a.pr5349.s2a81892.v2.rad" from="188"> <title level="bk"> <hi rend="i">Autobiographical Notes</hi> (II. 187-188) to DGR's limericks, quoting this one and the beginning of another, but not the third. In his memoir of 1921, <hi rend="i">Memories and Notes of People and Places 1852-1912</hi> , 74 , Sir Sidney Colvin gives another version of this epigram on Scott.
