Early Italian Poets text He means, possibly, that he should be more than ever tor- mented by his creditors, on account of their knowing his ability to pay them: but the meaning seems very uncertain (1874); He means, perhaps, that he should be more than ever tormented by his creditors (1861) Grosseto: the reference is to the salt mines there. Saldagno's knave: Cecco's reference is to the “thief of Salvagno”, a character in a french romance. DGR seems to have missed the allusion.
