The most important survive in a pair of related painting instructions DGR left for a studio assistant, probably in 1867 for Treffry Dunn. <xref doc="a.6p-1867texms.rad"> One of these</xref> gives a drawing of the layout of the palette itself, <xref doc="a.6p-1867texms2.rad">the other</xref> is a set of prose notes.
