Italia and Germania

According to William Holman Hunt, Ford Madox Brown was greatly influenced by the work of Overbeck, as can be seen in the painting Oure Ladye of Saturday Night . Although DGR considered Overbeck's style to be sterile, Italia and Germania may be compared in terms of sentiment and purity of color to works like DGR's Rachel and Leah .
