(See Fredeman, <hi rend="i">The P.R.B. Journal</hi> , entry for 25 September 1849). DGR apparently copied the poem in a letter to his brother and wrote “Stunning, isn't it?”. The poem was reprinted in <hi rend="i">Tamerton Church Tower</hi> (1854), and in Patmore's collected <hi rend="i">Poems</hi> (1886) in revised form under the title “The Year”.
