Note: WMR (verso): “This design by Dante Gabriel Rossetti dates I suppose towards 1855. It evidently represents a lady wreathing her scarf round the helmet of her knight. I think it more than probable that a water-colour of the same subject was painted but dont know with certainty. The drawing was mounted by D.G.R.'s order. W. M. Rossetti 29 January 1883.”
