Bibliography

Description: “Whole-length, reclining on a sofa. Her right arm is raised to her head, which is on the right in profile to left resting on a cushion; the flowing drapery of her left sleeve touches the ground. On reverse, a full-length upright draped figure (without head) turned to the right with its left arm outstretched, suggesting a study for Dante. Lower left, sketch of a man's right leg and foot wearing a stocking.” (Surtees, A Catalogue Raisonné , vol. 1, 161 (no. 290)).
