Scholarly Commentary

Introduction

The five heads (one with figure attached) are as follows: (1) a large–nosed face with staring eyes; (2) a profile with a hook nose and long hair; (3) a beared young man; (4) a young man in a high collar; (5) a male or female figure with head rested on right hand. The head of this last figure appears on verso, sketched on a larger scale.
