DGR mentions these drawings he was making for the Sketching Club in a letter to his mother of 7 July 1843. Fredeman conjectures that one of the drawings may be the Blanche and Dauphin piece (see
Fredeman, Correspondence, 43. 2 n.4
). WMR said that “he treated [the subject} in August in six varying compositions” (see WMR,
DGR. Designer and Writer (page 6).
