Scholarly Commentary

Introduction

Except for the title lettering on the spine, DGR carried over the same binding design to this volume from the one he had made for his 1870 volume of Poems . This book thus appeared in a uniform binding design with its companion volume issued the same year, the 1881 New Edition of Poems . The endpapers for this book are also the same as those he created for the 1870 book.

The binding design for the de luxe edition of this volume also repeats the designs of the de luxe editions of the other two books issued in 1870 and 1881.
