Introduction
Although no design for this chair has appeared, Morris and Co. marketed it as “The Rossetti Armchair” from the time of its production ca. 1863. “It is based on French country chairs of the early 19th century. Examples of this chair differ slightly. . .because they were all made by individual craftsmen” ( Treuherz et al., Dante Gabriel Rossetti, 228 ).
