This is one of two studies for the angel executed by DGR in the Broadlands while a guest at Cooper Temple's house in August of 1876.
DGR wrote to Treffry-Dunn on August 13, 1876: "They set about finding me babies for the baby
head in the Damozel. First came a workhouse baby. I spent a day in drawing
it, but it wouldn't do."
