Swinburne's part is notable for its concluding seven pages (45-51), where he discusses the paintings of his friend DGR, and in particular the works <xref doc="a.1-1867.s193.raw"> <title level="wrk"> <hi rend="i">Sibylla Palmifera</hi> , <hi rend="i">Lady Lilith</hi> , and <hi rend="i">Venus Verticordia</hi> . The essay is the first appearance in print of the sonnets for these pictures.
