Introduction
The manuscript is copied in pencil on the endpaper at the back of DGR's copy of Robert Browning's Christmas-Eve and Easter-Day. The pencil is often very faint and at various points the manuscript is torn away at the edges. As a result, some words are missing, especially at the end of the poem where the damage to the paper is most extreme.
