Introduction

Fixed to the paper covers of each number of the periodical, WMR's sonnet might well be taken as a summatory statement of the aims of the PRB and The Germ. And in some sense it is just that. The statement of a committment to “nature” is sufficiently general to admit many different views; at the same time, the PRB's suspicion of an art based upon following previous models rather than direct person experience, is clearly indicated.
