This is the one of the poems in the series of verse epistles that DGR sent back to
his Pre-Raphaelite brethren from Belgium and France in the fall of 1849.
WMR would later collect the poems under the
title A Trip
to Paris and Belgium. For some reason, he did not include this sonnet
with the integral sequence as he had it published in his collected editions, but printed it
separately.
