Only the sweet pencil drawing for this work, executed also as
a small oil picture in 1862, is currently known. As we can see from the reproductions
preserved in the Bancroft collection for the much later work
with the same title, the two pictures are sometimes confused. In fact the later work descends
from this one, with DGR adding the full length figure to the head he had originally
conceived.
