Date on Image: Jany 1850
Note: The date appears in the lower right corner. However, Surtees notes that the date (which is written in the artist's own hand) was likely added later, and is incorrect. She postulates that, stylistically, the sketch “belongs to 1846” ( A Catalogue Raisonné , 5).
