Introduction

This is DGR's second reproduction of his original sketch, as reprinted in Scribner's Magazine, vol. 21, no. 1 (January, 1897), p.120. The sketch is accompanied by a note from Cosmo Monkhouse describing the history of the original and this reproduction, on pages 125-6 of the same issue.
