Scholarly Commentary

Introduction

A recent essay by Kirsty Stonell argues persuasively that this portrait, long left unidentified, is Fanny Cornforth. The Fogg Museum of Art displays the work under the title Portrait of Mrs William Michael Rossetti , but there appears to be no grounds for such an identification.
