Introduction
As with other of the poets translated by DGR, we know little about Lippo other than that he was a respected late thirteenth-century poet. The translation is fairly close. DGR's source text is Poeti del primo secolo (II. 263).
Textual History: Composition
Probably early, late 40s or early 50s.
Printing History
The translation was first published in 1861 in The Early Italian Poets; it was reprinted in 1874 in Dante and his Circle.
